Barbara Ann Corcoran

 Barbara Ann Corcoran, born on March 10, 1949, is an American businesswoman and investor. She is also a lecturer as a consultant, columnist syndicated to a speaker, author, and TV show host. In 2001, she launched The Corcoran Group in New York City. She later sold the company to NRT for $66 millions. Shortly thereafter she left the company. One of the original "Shark" investors, Corcoran has appeared in all 12 seasons of ABC's Shark Tank until now. In February of 2020, she had closed 53 deals. The most significant of these was a purchase of $350,000 for Coverplay at 40%. Corcoran was born in Edgewater, New Jersey, the second child of 10 in a working class Irish-Catholic family. Florence, Corcoran's mother, was a housewife. Edwin W. Corcoran Jr. her father, was a multi-talented employee throughout Corcoran's childhood. Her family sometimes relied upon free food delivery from a local, friendly grocery store. Corcoran remembers her father as an intoxicated man who would sometimes treat her mother with disrespect and disrespect, particularly after having consumed alcohol. Corcoran was a struggle in school, and eventually discovered that she was dyslexic. Corcoran was a student at a local Catholic elementary school before beginning the high school system at St. Cecilia High School in Englewood. Corcoran dropped several classes during her first year, and then transferred to Leonia High School where she was a D student.
